EE-ISAC and FS-ISAC sign Memorandum of Understanding
August 2024
Brussels, Belgium – The Financial Services Information Sharing Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and the European Energy Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (EE-ISAC) sign on August 2024 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to further promote the exchange of cyber security information of the EE-ISAC and enhance the cyber resilience of European electric power critical infrastructures.
FS-ISAC is the member-driven, not-for-profit organization that advances cybersecurity and resilience in the global financial system, protecting the financial institutions and the people they serve. Founded in 1999, the organization’s real-time information-sharing network amplifies the intelligence, knowledge, and practices of its members for the financial sector’s collective security and defenses. Member financial firms represent $100 trillion in assets in 75 countries.
Teresa Walsh, Chief Intelligence Officer and Managing Director, EMEA, for the Financial Service Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC) stressed that “For 25 years, FS-ISAC has driven the financial sector’s collective security, defense and resilience through a real-time information-sharing network that amplifies the intelligence, knowledge and practices of our members.
By signing this MoU with EE-ISAC, we can more effectively leverage the knowledge both organizations have about the latest threats and how to safeguard against them in order to protect the world’s critical infrastructure during this time of global volatility”.
EE-ISAC is the result of multidisciplinary cooperation reached in Europe by private operators, service providers, academia and (non-) governmental agencies, with the mission of strengthening resilience through cybersecurity information sharing within a trusted community of over 30 members. Activities include sharing information on the evolution of cyber threats to energy infrastructures and sharing best practices and innovative initiatives in the context of protecting networks, industrial systems and operational technology.
Massimo Rocca, Board Director of EE-ISAC highlighted that “We always look with great attention to other sectorial ISACs, so strengthening the cooperation with those with more experience and a very active community is a must for the EE-ISAC, no matter how much the technologies applied can be different”.
With this Agreement of Cooperation, the parties stress the importance of information-sharing to protect Europe’s energy sector from cybersecurity threats by providing useful knowledge and analysis on security best practices, attack trend and breaches. The Partnership presents the two parties with the opportunity to move further forward with building a trusted network to exchange information on cyber security threats.
