EE-ISAC attends the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield Public Hearing

Wolfgang Löw, EE‑ISAC Board Member and CISO of EVN, spoke as a special guest on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield of the European Parliament. He spoke during a public hearing on foreign threats to strategic infrastructure. These sessions allow experts and stakeholders to share insights directly with Members of the European Parliament, helping them understand complex challenges and make informed decisions.

The hearing allowed EE‑ISAC to share the operational experience of the European energy sector directly with policymakers. The association continues to support EU institutions and energy operators in creating a secure, resilient, and cooperative European energy system.

During his participation, Wolfgang highlighted the rising threats to Europe’s energy systems, noting that nation-state actors and other groups are expanding operations against critical infrastructure.

Löw stressed the importance of protecting operational technology and supply chains, while also improving information sharing across operators and borders to enhance collective resilience. He drew attentionto the growing challenge of hybrid threats that combine cyber, physical, and informational tactics.

During the Q&A, he emphasized that information sharing and clear cybersecurity requirements are key to building stronger resilience, and that effective regulation can act as an enabler to make critical infrastructure safer.
